Oh, geez. Now I come off sounding like an arrogant you-know-what, but that's not who I am - just ask around.
There are a lot of new photographers out there who just don't understand the concepts of light, composition, leading lines, depth of field, etc. As a consumer, you may not care if they understand it or not, you just want good pictures. And if "good" is "good enough" for you, then you probably don't want to come to me for photos and you are not the client I am looking for.
Let's think about it another way. Why would you pay for your child to go to a private school when they could go to public school for free? Why would you buy a Michael Kors handbag rather than one from Walmart? Why do people buy a diamond engagement ring rather than a cubic zirconia?
Because one is perceived to be better than the other (better curriculum, more individual attention); one has more prestige than the other (who doesn't love Michael Kors?); and one is better quality that will last a life time (and it won't turn your finger green).
I am a professional. I have more than 20 years of experience working with newborns and kids of all ages. I only sell quality products. I only use a professional lab for prints. I have been voted as one of the best photographers in my area not only by members of my community, but also by my peers. You know your children and family are in safe hands. You know the images I create will be awesome.
Please forgive me as I offer one more analogy. You can go to any local place and see a pretty good local band for about $10. Or you can go to coliseum and see someone like Jason Aldean, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry or One Direction and pay over $400 per seat.
When you are looking for a photographer you have choices. You can go to someone that is pretty good, or you can go to someone who is a rock star in the industry. As they saying goes - you get what you pay for.
So when you come to my studio for portraits, you are coming to one of the best. Who knows, I might even sing you a tune (*No charge for the tune.)
